Between
Wells and Cheddar, in a beautiful conservation village, surrounded
by magnificent Mendip walks. Hidden away up a quiet lane, behind
high stone walls, you'll find a 300 year old stone cottage.

|
 |
Attached to our home, Cottage Farm, which was a typical Somerset
farmhouse in this 'strawberry and cider' area. The old farm
dairy has been carefully renovated and is now a charming,
two bedroomed cottage, featuring exposed stone and beams.
With gas central heating and thick, stone, walls, the Dairy
is cosy in winter and cool in summer.
The original front door opens into the sitting
room, with comfortable sofa-bed and armchairs. TV, DVD and
CD player.
The fully equipped, fitted kitchen, has an electric
cooker, fridge, washing machine, microwave and table and chairs.
A spiral staircase leads upstairs. The master bedroom has
a wood floor, beamed ceiling, romantic canopied bed and a
washbasin. The second bedroom also with beamed ceiling, has
a single bed and room for a second bed or cot. The bathroom
has an electric shower, loo and hand basin.
|
Outside
Outside is a large walled courtyard with a parking
area (joint use with owners) and a sun trap patio with water feature for
guests, with lilac, roses and other flowers, garden furniture
and a BBQ. There is room in our barn for bikes or buggies
etc.

Location
|
|
Westbury-sub-Mendip
is a beautiful, ancient village. Awarded conservation
area status, for its historic and architectural importance.
Set on the south slopes of the Mendip hills, looking
over the Somerset levels to mystical Glastonbury Tor.
The village follows a stream, down from the hills through
a small rocky gorge, where old stone houses and walls
seem to grow out of the boulders.
"The
Dairy" is situated, away from busy roads, yet
just two minute's walk from the village post office
and shop, bus stop and village inn, offering good food.
(Fantastic stargazing
on a clear night as you walk back from the pub!).
A short walk through the village, leads to a nature
reserve on the craggy Mendip tops, an "Area of Outstanding
Natural Beauty". The views are breathtaking. To see
more including map visit our village website at www.westbury-sub-mendip.org.uk

|
| Excellent

We can arrange bike hire. The Somerset levels are marvellous
for bird watching, with, herons and swans and smaller
birds all year round.
